In this sermon, Dave Holden emphasized the necessity of embodying grace and truth in our daily lives, as Jesus did, for effectively bearing witness to an increasingly hostile and truth-starved world. Drawing on John 1:14-18, Holden asserts that our world needs Jesus, the absolute truth, and emphasized that we as individuals must start this journey to be filled with grace and truth by becoming more like Jesus (Romans 8:29) and living as He did, such as being devoted to our Heavenly Father, not being people pleasers, being present in the moment, and being servants full of compassion. Holden also taught that we are filled with grace and truth when we yield to the Holy Spirit (John 14:15, 16:13), reminding that the Spirit will lead us into more grace and will never compromise the truth of God's word. Lastly, he underlined the importance of personally receiving and allowing God's grace and truth to penetrate every aspect of our lives, giving practical examples of needing grace in dealing with people, facing troubles, trials, disappointments and so on. He concludes by calling us to respond, urging us as believers to imitate Jesus, yield to the Holy Spirit, and truly absorb God's grace and truth into their daily lives, thus radiating Christ's love to a grace-starved, truth-deprived world.
