In this sermon, Lex Loizides paints the Gospel of John as a shining lighthouse, guiding us towards a dynamic, life-filled relationship with Christ, much like the shock and joy found in a treasure chest. He shares how a paralysed man, anchored in desperation beside Bethesda’s pool, was unexpectedly lifted by Jesus’ command, igniting a new beginning — an analogy for our need to embrace Jesus’ offering of forgiveness and fullness of life. This sermon unfolds an invitation to turn from sin, as from a broken compass, and chart a course following Christ, who is the true North, leading us to eternal life. Let’s unanchor our hesitance and sail into the boundless sea of God’s grace and truth revealed through His Word.

In this sermon, Lex Loizides shares the vital blueprint for a church rooted in Acts 2: Cape Town needs a community echoing the early believers who, convicted of their sin, turned to Christ for forgiveness. ”Repent and be baptized” (Acts 2:38) underscores the call for authentic repentance—transformation touching the heart, not just the lips. This church would firmly embrace the Bible as truth and live out its teachings daily. As a family united, we’d extend grace, practice humility, and actively spread the Gospel’s hope, for such a church not only stands but grows, enriching the city with God’s love. Let’s be that church, embodying God’s Word that shapes our lives and leads others to His saving grace.

In this sermon, Steve Murphy teaches the power of our hearts, using Proverbs 4:23, to guide us like a compass. He compares our hearts to a garden - what we plant within grows. If we plant God’s Word and tend with care, our lives will flourish like a well-watered garden. He encourages us to ask God for a heart transplant that pumps love and life, not just for ourselves but for everyone around us. Lean into the Bible, let Christ’s gospel transform your heart, and watch your life bloom with hope and purpose.

In this sermon, Lester Pillay invites us into a mystical journey through the adventures of a young boy named Taj and the Magi, anchoring us in truths that outshine the desert stars. As we wander the sands, we learn to never stop seeking like the wise Magi who pursued the promised King (Matthew 2:1-19). Our hearts beat to the rhythm of attentiveness, listening for God’s voice as it echoes through history and into our daily lives, reminding us of the Magi's attentiveness to the guiding star.
We are also urged to tread paths of integrity, mirroring the Magi's choice to alter their course and protect the newborn King from Herod's malice. The humble abode of Jesus contrasts sharply with Herod's grandeur (Matthew 2:11), pressing upon us the beauty of a King born not in opulence but in modest love. Let's clutch these divine pearls—seeking, attentiveness, integrity—as we embark on the new year, remembering it is in seeking first His kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33) that we find the treasures truly worth beholding.
This tale isn't just a bedtime story; it's an invitation to discover the King in our everyday and to respond to His call with the eagerness of a child and the wisdom of a seeker. So let’s keep our eyes on the heavens and our hearts open to His leading.

In this sermon, Lex Loizides captivated our hearts by unveiling the divine tapestry of Christmas. He painted a picture of humanity in dire need of a heavenly touch, grounded in the belief that we all yearn for assistance beyond our own capabilities. The Christmas story, with its angels and stars, is not mere folklore but a beacon of grace extended to us in our most profound need. It was through the unfathomable sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who descended from His celestial throne to the ruggedness of our reality, to display the truth as vivid as a lighthouse in a stormy sea, and to bring us spiritual vivacity, transforming our very souls from a state of lifelessness to one brimming with eternal vitality. Christ's journey was a mission ordained by the Father to shatter the chains of deception, breathe life into our spiritual voids, and rescue us—sinners entrenched in strife—from the precipice of eternal despair. As we stand at the crossroads of our faith, may we turn our gazes toward the Saviour, who calls us to a revolution of the heart and a renewal of our minds. Let's lean into the scriptures, embrace the Gospel's splendid hope, and find our refuge in the timeless word of God that stands firm against the shifting sands of time. Let this Christmas rekindle that divine spark within and beckon us nearer to the One who is both the journey and the destination. Rejoice, for our help has come.

Jubilee is a Christian church centred on the Bible and working out our faith in the context of community. We meet together on Sundays and in small mid-week meetings in homes around the city. Our desire is to strengthen both individuals and Cape Town as a whole and to build reconciliation, especially where we have, in the past, been divided. We aim to create the context for relationships across age, race and socio-economic boundaries.
